Types and Definitions
To sum it all up, there are 3 types of stroke: ischemic, hemorrhagic, and transient ischemic attack. Some of the hallmark symptoms are weakness in one arm, slurred speech, and facial drooping on half of the face. Other unusual symptoms include dizziness, nausea, vertigo, vision problems, and headache.
Pontine Stroke
Symptoms: A pontine stroke is essentially a stroke within the brain stem due to a hemorrhage, or bleeding of the blood vessels in this portion of the brain. This type of stroke is linked more to hypertension, or high blood pressure, than to anything else. However, simply being hypertensive doesn’t mean you’ll necessarily have a pontine stroke. It’s just one of the risk factors. As with any condition, there are a number of symptoms of a pontine stroke that can help indicate whether a person is experiencing one.
